The “Remojar Series” essentially explores the concept of de-contextualization. Figurative forming and re-forming of organic materials, seaweed, serves as a simple metaphor for the ontological narrative of matter in general and the human condition in particular. Exposure to the element water allows for softening, manipulation and molding while the air hardens, this process, first in commercial large scale plants and then later by my hands eventually weakens it return the the matter back to dust or algae.

“Diptych sies manos y dos pies” a self-portrait, as all of these particular hands and feet are my own, pays homage to manual labor and the absurdity of our efforts…spending hours, days and months creating ephemeral art.
